Who?
I'm a senior lecturer and Australian Research Fellow with the School of Psychology at the University of Adelaide, working mainly in the fields of mathematical psychology and computational cognitive science.
What?
My research interests are mainly in human conceptual knowledge and decision making, and involves a mix of pure and applied research. Among the various things I've been interested in are psychological topics like
- Similarity, concepts and categories.
- Judgement and decision-making in uncertain environments.
- Individual differences in cognitive processes
However, some of my work is closer to applied statistics than it is to cognitive science. In this field my interests typically fall within topics such as
- Bayesian and information theoretic methods
- Optimal model selection
- Hierarchical and nonparametric models
In addition to these "pure" research topics, I spend some of my time working in more applied domains. Relevant projects:
- Understanding user behaviour in mobile phone environments
- Social network analysis in a defence context
- Decision making in the oil and gas industry
Of course, like most people in science, I have latent interests in all sorts of other topics, so this listing is likely to change over time.
