Details for the computational cognitive science course that I'm running with Amy Perfors.
About Me
I'm a senior lecturer and Australian Research Fellow at the University of Adelaide, working on a range of problems in cognitive science. My research interests relate mainly to human conceptual learning and decision making, and involves a mix of pure and applied research. Recurring topics of interest to me include:
- Similarity, concepts and categories.
- Judgement and decision-making
- Individual differences in cognitive processes
However, some of my work is closer to applied statistics than it is to cognitive science. In this field my interests typically fall within areas such as:
- Bayesian and information theoretic methods
- Optimal model selection
- Hierarchical and nonparametric models
In addition to these "pure" research topics, I spend some of my time working in more applied domains. Relevant projects have included:
- Understanding phone user behaviour
- Social network analysis in a defence context
- Decision making in the oil and gas industry
Of course, like most people in science, I have latent interests in many other areas, so this listing is likely to change over time.
